This weekend Ryan, Rob, Richelle and I made the trek to St Thomas for our first Greenhouse Event There were about 20 people there all from around the area of South Western Ontario. We ate some amazing food and met people who were trying to figure out some of the same things together. I really felt welcomed and appreciated the first time being there and that was a beautiful feeling.
The group was so diverse with it's ages, backgrounds and stories. Everyone doing something and trying to figure out this journey of faith and this emerging church thing all for the glory of God. Some people there were church planters, pastors, and some were just checking it out. That was really cool to me, as I love hearing from people on all different places in the walk.
I love the ideas tossed around like:
Doing church different
Living in true community with one another
Really loving our neighbor's
Justice, ethics, morals
Poverty
Of course, you feel (as a person) less crazy when you meet people who feel the same way with you on issues. And this meeting was for me was a breath of fresh air. I am hoping to connect more with some of these leaders and pastors and pick their brains on what is going on and look at the way they are living out what they believe.
I highly recommend attending one of these networking meetings to learn and connect with others. It was worth the drive to St Thomas...
